Teacher unions reminded of the Ultimatum the gave to government on 2021 base pay negotiations

The coalition of concern Teachers Ghana (CCTGH) on 1st May 2021 gave Government Ultimatum to complete base pay negotiations before the end of the month May 2021 else they can’t restraint the anger of their members.

Now May 2021 is on the verge of ending and nothing has been said about the minimum wage negotiations neither of increasing workers’ salaries. Teachers want to know whether the Coalition of Concern Teachers Ghana (CCTG) still has in mind the Ultimatum they gave to the government concerning these negotiations or it was just a vague hope the teacher unions always try to give to their members.

It seems most of the Teacher unions now talk more than they do. Teachers have to be alert to always remind their leaders about the promise that they make. The leaders think teachers forget easily so they come to the media and say whatever they want to say to make their members happy and then go back enjoying the union dues. It is high time teacher union leaders accounted to their members at the end of every year.

In April this year, the three main teacher unions GNAT, NAGRAT, and CCTGH also gave Government Ultimatum to upgrade and pay the responsibility allowance of Teachers before the end of April 2021. The Month of May 2021 is almost gone nothing meaningful has been said about that empty threat they gave to the government.

If union leaders are given an empty threat to the government with nothing been done about that threat. Why will the government then been afraid when the subsequent threat comes.

The members of the various teacher unions have to remind their leaders about the industrial action they gave to the government. Teachers have been cheated for too long.
