A group calling its self Coalition against TUC and Organized Labour in favor of Ghanaian workers is threatened demonstration against the Government and Trade Union Congress TUC over which they called a token of 4% as a base pay increment that was given to public sector workers for the 2021 year.
Most of the public sector workers have complained about the failure on the part of the Trade Union Congress TUC to negotiate for better percentage increments of their salaries but rather accepting the 4% that was tabled before them by the government.
Citing the recent increase in the price of goods and services in the Ghanaian market. The group lament how they are going to cope with the spike in the price of goods and services in the country. Hence they called to demonstrate against the Government and TUC to review the base pay percentage for the 2021 and 2022 years.
The group said they find it difficult to understand why GPRTU have been able to negotiate for a 13% increase in lorry fares for 2021 while public sector workers are taking only 4%, which the complained that the gap is wide because most public sector workers will have to border these cars and pay high fares to their workplaces with nothing left in their pocket for their families. Thus the demonstration against Government and TUC to review the base pay percentage.
