The ranking member of parliament in Education Dr. Clement Apaak has called the position of National Teaching Council NTC forcing Trained Teachers to compulsory pass the six hours credit paper as a licensure Examination before they will be allowed to enter the classroom as maltreatment.
Speaking on New Desk on Joynews, Dr. Clement Apaak stated that the mode and method use by National Teaching Council for teacher Trainees’ to write a completely different license Examination before they are allowed in a classroom is unfair and need to be relooked at.
He explained that Ghana as a country needs Teachers but using the country resources to trained teachers in all aspects including practicals and after all that NTC will just set an examination in which the Teacher has not been taken through that program then after the failed, then you turn back to blame them is unfair and need to be changed immediately.
This comes as a result of the mass failure of newly trained teachers in this year’s licensure examination. The Minister of Education, Dr. Yaw Osei Adutwum, taking steps to resolve future failure in the licensure Examination, instructed National Teaching Council NTC to create a portal where thousands of questions will be uploaded for prospective candidates to have a practice of the exam before they go in to write the paper.
