The Ashanti Regional Chairman of the National Association of Teachers GNAT, Mr. Prosper Takyi has called on all members of the Ghana National Association of Teachers GNAT to keep calm as leaders of GNAT is against the GES and NAGRAT about the price of the Laptop and that GNAT will officially announce the cost of the Laptops to Teachers this week.
Speaking on Angel FM, Kumasi Base Radio station during GNAT hour, Mr prosper Takyi stated categorically clear that the National President of GNAT has announced to them on the National platform of GNAT that the price of the Laptop is the same as what the Deputy Minister of Education stated on citinewsroom which is GH¢1550 and any attempt to change that figure by GES or NAGRAT will be rejected by GNAT.
According to him the inconsistencies created by the president of NAGRAT and the Public relations Officer of Ghana Education Service are because they are trying to have something for themselves and they in GNAT will always stand for the Teacher. He added that he does not understand why a union president will now turn to be a PRO of the employer.
He further noted that the reason why the Ghana National Association of Teachers GNAT has not said anything about the Laptops is that they are keenly watching out for certain things.
Mr. Takyi made it clear that the will be a series of meetings concerning the Laptop matter and he is sure by this week Tuesday, 14th September 2025, members of GNAT will know the official cost of the Laptop and not the GH¢1831.47 that GES and NAGRAT are talking about. He also stated that GNAT wants Teachers to be given a choice whether to take the Laptop or not and any software they are talking about will be put online for Teachers to download into their Laptops if they don’t take GES Laptops.
