I don’t know when graduate teachers will be recruited – Dr. Yaw Osei Adutwum

The Honourable Member of Parliament and the Minister of Education Dr. Yaw Osei Adutwum has disclosed to the Ghana Broadcasting Cooperation (GBC) breakfast show on Thursday 13th January 2022 that he doesn’t know when graduate teachers from Universities will be recruited into the teaching Service.

According to Dr. Yaw Osei Adutwum, the Ministry of Education and the Ghana Education Service (GES), has employed over 93,000 teachers since 2017. He added that the Ministry of Education and GES hopes to get financial clearance from the ministry of finance for graduate recruitment.

He stated that the over 93,000 teachers that were recruited during the last four years was graduate from the free senior high schools and now the MOE and GES is concentrating on the basic schools and once teachers meant for basic schools are deployed then they will now look at getting financial clearance for the graduate recruitment.

The minister made it clear that graduates are not trained from Colleges of education where they will have to post them, so they are hoping to get financial clearance to be able to recruit them.
