Aggrieved Teachers reject GES 3-4 days virtual training workshop

Some concerned members of the Ghana National Association of Teachers GNAT have called on the management of the Ghana Education Service to cancel the 3-4 day virtual training workshop that is to be organized for teachers in the coming days.

According to the Aggrieved teachers, they are disappointed in the directive that was given to teachers yesterday 8th February 2022 by the Ghana Education Service asking all teachers to participate in an online training workshop for which CPD points and a certificate will be given to the participants.

They demanded that the management of the Ghana Education Service comply with the memorandum of understanding that was signed between the teachers and the Ghana Education Service on the one teacher one laptop initiative. They noted that in the MOU it was clearly stated that technical training will be organized for teachers at a specific location agreed by teachers. A virtual training was not stated in the agreement then why the change now?

They Aggrieved teachers believe that the cost of training for the workshop was paid for by teachers as part of the cost of the laptops and for that matter, it will be unfair to teachers to organize a virtual training where they have to spend extra money on the data coupled with the poor network system in the country.

They have also complained about the fact that the majority of the teachers have not yet received their laptops which they can use to partake in the training for the management of the Ghana Education Service to denied teachers a certificate and CPD points for not taking part in the virtual training will be resisted by teachers. Teachers want physical training and virtual training
