5 major reasons that Made CENTSAG embark on an indefinite strike starting on 11th April 2022

The Colleges of Education Non-Teaching Staff Association of Ghana (CENTSAG) shall embark on an indefinite strike starting Monday 11 April 2022 across all forty-six (46) public Colleges of Education in Ghana.

The issues that led to their action are grounded on the following:

  1. Wrong placement of First Degree Holders.
  2. Non-payment of migration arrears
  3. Exclusion of payment of Generic Allowances
  4. Partial payment of Office Holding Allowances
  5. Non-payment of Interim Market Premium Arrears

The decision to embark on strike has been necessitated by the continuous disregard for the above issues affecting the welfare of their members.

It will be recalled that a notice to embark on strike was served in January 2022 but could not be carried through due to the intervention of the National Labour Commission (NLC).

It is unfortunate that since January 2022, no commitment has been demonstrated to find a solution to the issues raised except for the partial payment of office holding allowances.

The date given by the NLC for the government team to address the concerns raised had elapsed but no tangible solution had been professed. In the circumstances, they have no option but to embark on industrial action to press home their demands for equitable and better conditions of service.

They are by this release informing all their members except the security class to stay away from College until otherwise instructed.
