Last week Thursday the leadership of the Teacher Trainees’ Association of Ghana (TTAG) meets with the Stakeholders involved to find out the cause of the delay in the payment of Teacher Trainees’ allowance.
After meeting with the student’s loan trust fund (SLTF) and GTEC, the leadership proceeds to meet with the Honourable Minister of Education Dr. Yaw Osei Adutwum at the Ministry to discuss issues affecting teacher Trainees. Click here to see the details of the meeting
Some of the issues discussed in the meeting were trainees’ allowance, feeding component, and blended Education.
The outcome of the Meeting.
The minister Education Dr. Yaw Osei Adutwum when he met with the leadership of the Teacher Trainees’Association made it clear that Government has released funds for the payment of Teacher Trainees’ allowance across the forty-six colleges of education. The minister encourages trainees’ to remain calm as the allowance process goes through the necessary stages. He stresses on government’s commitment to paying teacher Trainees Allowance since it is a significant intervention for trainees’.
Last week the principal of colleges of education (PRINCOF) threatened to close down the 46 colleges of education across the country should Government fail to release funds for the feeding component of the Teacher trainees allowance. They explained that trainees’ have been fed on debt since school resumed in January this year.
On the issue of feeding grants for which trainees were not fed. The Minister of education assured the leadership of TTAG of his stand to engage the Stakeholders involved in this matter.
