GES blame technological challenges for Mass teacher promotion examination failure

The management of the Ghana Education Service has blamed the mass failure of the Teachers’ aptitude examination that was recently released on some technological challenges that they encounter when uploading the results.

The Ghana National Association of Teachers GNAT, National Association of Graduate Teachers NAGRAT, and the coalition of concern Teachers Ghana CCTGH last week threatened to demonstrate against the management of the Ghana Education Service over how the promotion test results were released to those Teachers that participated in the exam.

Some of the leaders of the Teacher unions expressed their disappointment and dissatisfaction with the way the aptitude test results were released. They demanded an explanation from GES on why some of the Teachers who took part in the exam were earlier notified that they have passed the exam but were later told they have failed.

Following this, the Deputy Director-General of Ghana Education service in charge of management service, Mr. Anthony Boateng explained that they had technical challenges while uploading the results.

“It came to our attention that in uploading the results, there had been a problem and this is very unfortunate.” Mr. Anthony explained

Meanwhile, the various teacher unions have vowed to embark on industrial action should the management of the Ghana Education service fail to resolve that issue.

The aptitude test was later introduced by the Ghana Education service to replace interviews which were used as a standard to promote teachers to their new ranks in the profession.
