GES intervention for second cycle institutions to prepare students for WASSCE

It could be recalled last month that the Director-General of Ghana Education Service visited some schools in the Eastern Region and lamented for the fact that they couldn’t prepare recorded lessons for the core subjects in the second cycle as they use to do every year.

In fulfillment of the Government of Ghana’s agenda of driving the Country’s economic development through digital lessons due to the pandemic, and in line with the various intervention programs to support and prepare students towards the WASSCE, the Ministry of Education (MOE) and Ghana Education Service (GES) have developed 140 lessons in all the core subjects for use in Second Cycle Schools.

The details are as follows:

S/NSubjectNo. Of lessons
1Integrated Science40
2Core Mathematics40
3English Language40
4Social Studies30
Total140

These are digital lessons that have been uploaded on hard drives for both teachers and students. Teachers should therefore study and be conversant with the contents to be able to teach effectively and explain to students during the digital lessons.

Regional Directors of Education are kindly requested to inform all Heads of Second Cycle Schools to ensure that:

a. Each Subject Teacher downloads their area of specialty:
b. Digital lesson timetable is designed for all final year students:
c. Schools strictly follow the Digital Learning Timetable;
d. The Hard Drives are handled with care to avoid crushing:
