How to withdraw money from Bell Direct?

You’re in the right place if you’re investing with Bell Direct and are unsure about how to get your money back. This tutorial will show you how to withdraw money from Bell Direct in Australia in easy-to-follow steps, regardless of whether you’ve recently sold some shares or wish to transfer your available funds to your bank account.

Withdrawing Money from Bell Direct: Step-by-Step

Step 1: Log In to Your Bell Direct Account

Start by heading over to www.belldirect.com.au and logging in with your client ID and password. Once you’re logged in, you’ll be taken to your Account Dashboard.

Step 2: Check Your Available Funds

Before you can withdraw money, make sure you actually have available funds in your cash account. If you’ve recently sold shares, it usually takes T+2 business days (trade date plus two days) for the funds to settle.

To check this:

  • Click on “Cash Account” from the main menu.

  • Look at your Available Balance. This is the amount you can withdraw.

Step 3: Navigate to the Withdrawal Section

Once you’re sure funds are available:

  1. Go to the “Cash Account” tab.

  2. Click “Withdraw Funds”.

  3. You’ll be directed to a page where you can enter the amount you’d like to withdraw.

Step 4: Confirm Your Linked Bank Account

Bell Direct will only transfer funds to your linked Australian bank account, the one you nominated when opening your trading account. If you need to change this, you’ll have to update your banking details — which may require verification and processing time.

Make sure the details are correct before continuing.

Step 5: Enter the Withdrawal Amount and Submit

  • Enter the amount you wish to transfer.

  • Click “Submit” to confirm the withdrawal.

You should receive a confirmation on screen and via email.

Step 6: Wait for the Funds to Arrive

Funds typically take 1–2 business days to show up in your bank account, depending on your bank’s processing times.

Important Notes

  • No withdrawal fees: Bell Direct does not charge a fee for standard bank withdrawals.

  • Cut-off time: Requests made after 2:00 PM AEST may be processed the next business day.

  • Unsettled funds: You can’t withdraw money until your trade has settled (T+2).
