The National Association of Graduate Teachers NAGRAT has come out to reject the claims made by the Ghana Education Service GES on the 26th of August 2021 that they have not extended instructional hours.
Speaking to the media, the president of the National Association of Graduate Teachers NAGRAT, Mr. Angel Cabonu said since the inception of the double track system in senior high schools and the outbreak of the pandemic Teachers have been working for more hours than they use to do. So For the Director-General of Ghana Education Service to come out and claim that Teachers have not been working for more hours is never true.
On the 26th of August 2021, the Director-General of the Ghana Education Service organized a press briefing, to address some of the challenges Teachers raise in their 10th August press statement. One of their concerns was that GES has extended instructional hours and for that matter, Teachers must be paid for that but the Director-General stated it clear that there is no extension of instructional hours, the Instructional hour’s Teachers are working with now is still the old system and for that matter, Teachers do not have to be paid more.
But Mr. Angel Cabonu has said that there are some workers in the schools such as the stores and school administrative workers who do not have something they call a break and for that matter the work throughout the day. So he insisted that GES has extended contact hours.
