The leadership of the National Association of Graduate Teachers NAGRAT has officially rejected the decision made by the Ministry of Education to appoint new headmasters for basic schools in the country.
According to the president of NAGRAT, Mr. Angel Carbonu said the ministry of Education has no such authority to appoint new headmasters for basic schools in the country.
He said the decision to appoint new headmasters to fill vacant positions in basic schools is the role of the management of the Ghana Education Service and not the ministry of Education
Mr. Angel Carbonu on Thursday, 17th February 2022 during a press conference at Accra said “There are a lot of issues in the educational sector that must be addressed but we are all pretending as though there are no issues.
“One of them is the decision by the Ministry of Education to appoint headmasters and headmistresses and they are starting with STEM schools but the Ministry has no power to appoint headmasters or headmistress.”
According to Angel Carbonu, one of the issues is the decision of the Ministry of Education to appoint headmaster and headmistress and they are starting with the STEM Schools meanwhile the ministry do not have such power to appoint.
He, therefore, called on the Ministry of Education to withdraw immediately the advert that teachers should apply for the position of headmasters and headmistress.
