Negotiations on minimum wage. Technical team to bring report in two weeks before Negotiations begins

The National Tripartite committee has begun the process in the national minimum wage for 2021. The National Tripartite has set up a Technical Team to look at the happening in the country before the negotiations for minimum will start.

This technical team has two weeks to report their finding to the National Tripartite committee before the negotiations will start from there. This was the outcome of the National Tripartite committee meeting on 22nd April 2021 at the Ministry of Employment and Labour Relations conference room.

After the first day of meeting in Accra on 22nd April, the minister of Employment and Labour Relations, Baffour Awuah when speaking to the media stated it clearly that the Negotiations of the national minimum wage will start when the technical team submits their report to them.

This negotiation was supposed to be done in 2020 but due to the pandemic, it couldn’t happen.
The minister assured the general public that, as soon as he receives the report from the technical team then he will ensure that the National Tripartite committee resumes their meeting then the Negotiations will begin.

The Secretary-General of the Trade union Congress expresses his hope that there will be no lags in the process of the Negotiations of the national minimum wage.
