Payroll Ghost names did not get there by themselves, punish the officers responsible- Gov’t told

Koforidua Diocese of the Catholic Church has called on the Government to arrest and prosecute all public officials who are responsible for implanting Ghost names on the government payroll in the country.

Most Rev. Joseph Afrifa- Agyeikum has explained that names on payroll did not get there by themselves, some officers are responsible for putting workers’ names on payroll, therefore those people ought to have known better and should be dealt with by the law.

Speaking during an interview with the Eastern Regional correspondent on TV3, Sunday 17th April 2022, Rev. Joseph Afrifa said “with the ghost names, I am really surprised that now and then we come up with this same issue that we have cleared some thousands of names from the payroll.”

“My question is, how did the names get there and who are the directors or who are the officers who are supposed to have known that these are not our staff? In the long round, who is collecting the money at the end of the day. So, when you clear these names what happens to those who managed the get the names there?” He questioned

Finance Minister Ken Offori Atta recently stated that the government has completed ongoing measures to eliminate the issue of ghost names on the government payroll by the end of December 2022.
