Public sector workers to observe sit-down strike on September 29, 2021

A group calling it’s self Aggrieved public sector workers has called on its members across public sectors to observe a solidarity sit-down strike on September 29, 2021.

According to the group, they had a successful meeting with the Regional Police Commander, DCOP
Boakye Yiadom of the Ashanti Regional police command on Friday, September
17, 2021, and officially announce to members, employers, and employers
associations that the scheduled demonstration in the Ashanti Region comes off
on Wednesday, September 29, 2021, in Kumasi.

They shall gather at Heroes Park (about 200 meters from Children’s Park), and in a
peaceful protest match to the Regional Coordinating Council (RCC) to present
their PETITION to the Regional minister.

By this, they are informing all employers to take note and allow their employee’s
free movement to the demonstration grounds which is a constitutionally
mandated duty. In furtherance, those that won’t be able to come should do a
SIT-DOWN STRIKE in solidarity with those on the demonstration grounds only on

the said date.

They added that the Association won’t take it kindly, and not hesitate to take a legal
action against any employer who tries to intimidate their member(s) in any form
during the said period.

Their membership cuts across all Public Servants in the various institutions across

the nation and for the avoidance of doubt the list of Public Servants includes but

not limited to The;

Civil Service, Judicial Service, Audit Service, Education Service, Prisons Service,
Parliamentary Service, Health Service, Statistical Service, National Fire Service,
Customs, Excise and Preventive Service, Internal Revenue Service, Police
Service, Immigration Service to mention but a few per The Constitution 1992, of
the Republic of Ghana, Article 190(1)(2).

They call on all Associations and Unions who are equally dissatisfied and
disappointed in the current development to openly declare their support and join
them in the pending demonstration in the metropolis.

Costume for the Demonstration is all red.

Wearing of nose mask is compulsory and all the pandemic Protocols shall be
observed.

They encourage their members that they are all in it together and with one accord they should all reject the inhumane 4% salary
increment they have been subjected to.
