Some teachers are calling for the National Teachers prize day celebration to be observed in the district, Municipal, Metropolitan, and Regional levels across the country.
Most teachers have taken to their social media handles to demand as it done for farmers days, district, municipal and metropolitan Chief Executives should enact bylaws to ensure that they use some of the internally generated funds to award prizes to deserving Teachers at the district level during National Teachers prize day celebrations.
They have also called on Members of Parliament not to only come to their district and be taking funs from Government-sponsored Education projects but they should also use this National Teachers day to award something to teachers in their district in one way or the other. Some members of parliament like Afenyo Markins are shining examples for all members of parliament to follow but some of these MPs have turn blind eye to what other MPs are doing to support these gallant Teachers in their various constituencies.
Teachers deserve better and must not only be celebrated just by mouth saying that “ayeekoo” to teachers but as well be celebrated in their pockets too.
