Students cry over upcoming BECE as Teachers’ strike hit hard.


Students in Junior High school who are preparing to write their Basic Education Certificate Examination in the coming months have cried as Teachers take full effect.

In the final year, students of Junior High schools have three months to seat for their Basic Education Certificate Examination (BECE)

On a visit to some schools in the Northern Region, students have cried to the government to listen to the demands of their teachers and let them return to the classroom.

The teacher unions in Education (GNAT, NAGRAT, CCTGH, and TEWU) yesterday Monday 4th July 2022 jointly declare a strike action with immediate effect.

Citi News visit to some Schools at Sagnerigu in the Tamale metropolis saw students roaming about without any single teacher to guide them.

Speaking to Citi News some of the students called on the government to immediately address the concern raised by teachers for them to return to the classroom and help them prepare for their basic Education Certificate Examination (BECE).

“If teachers are not here to teach us, how will we write our BECE? Next week, we will write our mock exam. If the teachers are not there, how are we supposed to write our mock?” one student asked.
