EXTENSION OF THE ACADEMIC CALENDAR
The leadership of the association petitioned GTEC formerly NCTE to assist in extending
the number of weeks the level three hundred students will be engaged for the face to face
interaction on campus since the online tuition was characterized by challenges such as
Poor accessibility to the online platforms, difficulty in understanding some courses
virtually and the reduction of the normal sixteen weeks per semester to twelve weeks.
The leadership of the association is delighted to announce to all collegians that GTEC is
Currently engaging UCC (the affiliated university) to find solutions to the concerns raised
by the leadership of the association, we will promptly notify our constituents of the outcome
PAYMENT OF TRAINEES ALLOWANCE
The leadership took the opportunity during the introduction to the leadership of the
Students Loan Trust Fund to discuss issues about Trainees allowance.
The leadership gave us an assurance that the allowance will be paid and further stated, the
delay in the payment of allowance is as a result of the transition exercise at the Ministry of
Education. Trainees should therefore exercise patience and when it is done, we shall hear
a positive response regarding the payment of the allowance
FEEDING COMPONENT OF THE ALLOWANCE
The leadership had an interactive discussion with Prof. Mohammed Salifu, the Director
General for GTEC on the feeding component of trainees. After listening to our points urged
the leadership of TTAG to first liaise with the Principals and if consensus is not reached
he will take it up from there. He reiterated that the reason given to the earlier feeding
component is different from the current situation. We meekly, call on all trainees to
exercise patience as the leadership is finding means to solve this problem once and for all.
