Trained Teachers from Colleges of Education to be recruited in the Ghana Education Service with principal superintendent rank.
Speaking at the launch of one Teacher one laptop initiative at St Mary’s senior high school yesterday, Dr. Mahamudu Bawumia disclosed that Government in the last three years has brought out an initiative to improve the teaching profession. One of those initiatives was the ability of the Goverment to migrate colleges of education into degree programs institutions.
Dr. Bawumia explained that all the graduates of colleges of Education beginning from 2022 will be recruited into the Ghana Education Service with the rank of principal superintendent. He added that Teachers who are already in the system and have been able to go further studies through the Ghana Education service-approved courses have also been upgraded.
The vice president made it clear that the National Teaching Council licensing of teachers has come to stay because every profession needs a professional standard and the teaching profession is not an exception to this professional standard. Hence the need to license Teachers to meet the global standard.
