Teachers have no duty to tell the government the brand of Laptops they need – NAGRAT

The president of the National Association of Graduate Teachers NAGRAT, Mr. Angel Carbonu has stated that it is not their duty to tell the government the kind or brand of Laptops Teachers needs to aid in their work.

Speaking to Asempa FM this morning on phone, Mr. Angel Carbonu indicated that what he needed to do as a union was to negotiate for government to provide Teachers with Laptops that will aid in their work but to tell the government the brand of Laptops Teachers need was not their duty.

When the host of the program asked him about the engagement with their union members before the negotiation with the government to procure the Laptops, Mr. Angel Carbonu stated that they represent their members and for that, any decision that is taken by the union is binding to all members.

When he again asked about the price of the Laptop, the president of NAGRAT only told the host about the 30% that Teachers are to pay only GH¢549.44. he refused to tell the host the 100% cost of the laptop when the host tries to question about it. He insisted that any teacher who wants to know the price of the Laptop should visit their teacher union national platform to access the price of the laptop.

He also reiterated that no Teacher’s salary will be deducted because everything will be deducted from the professional allowance of Teachers that will be paid this year.
