The Deputy Minister of Education, Reverend John Ntim Fordjour has reiterated that the cost of the one teacher one laptop that the government is distributing to teachers cost only GH¢1,550.

He explained that looking at the negotiation of the procurement of the laptops, the government is paying all the 100%. This is because the 70%, 30% cost-sharing, Teachers 30% are not from their salary but according to him, it will be deducted directly from the this year’s Teachers professional allowance.

Meanwhile, the president of the National Association of Graduate Teachers NAGRAT, Mr. Angel Carbonu has stated that the total cost of each Laptop is GH¢1,831.47. Out of this, the Teacher is now going to pay GH¢549.44 as 30% of the cost of the Laptop.

Now Teachers are so confused amid all these Laptops’ price. Teachers now are having the feeling that their union leaders are manipulating the cost of the Laptop to cheat them. Because there is a complete mismatch in the cost of the Laptop between the Teacher unions and the government. And the posture of the Teacher unions Leaders indicates that there is something fishy about the cost of the Laptop.
