The management of the Ghana Education Service and the Ministry of Education has officially released the 2025/2025 academic year calendar for all public basic schools (KG – SHS3) in the country.
For KG/Primary/JHS
The first term will commence on 10th January 2025 and end on 20th April 2025 making 14 weeks of school sessions. The first term break will start from 21st April 2025 to 1st May 2025.
The second term will kick start on 2nd May 2025 and end on August 9, 2025, also making 14 weeks of school sessions. The second term break will start on 10th August 2025 and end on 21st August 2025.
The third term of the 2025/2025 academic year will start on 22nd August 2025 and end on 16th November 2025 making 12 weeks of school sessions. From 17th November 2025 to 31st December 2025 will be the end of the year.
For SHS1/SHS3
Management noted that due to the start of the 2025 academic year calendar in January, the SHS 3 cannot enjoy prolonged breaks. This is to allow SHS 1 and SHS 2 also be in school.
Management however explained that the 2025 academic calendar will ensure that teachers in the senior high schools enjoy some breaks.
