The management of the Ghana Education Service and the Ministry of Education has officially released the 2022/2023 academic year calendar for all public basic schools (KG – SHS3) in the country.
For KG/Primary/JHS
The first term will commence on 10th January 2023 and end on 20th April 2023 making 14 weeks of school sessions. The first term break will start from 21st April 2023 to 1st May 2023.
The second term will kick start on 2nd May 2023 and end on August 9, 2023, also making 14 weeks of school sessions. The second term break will start on 10th August 2023 and end on 21st August 2023.
The third term of the 2022/2023 academic year will start on 22nd August 2023 and end on 16th November 2023 making 12 weeks of school sessions. From 17th November 2023 to 31st December 2023 will be the end of the year.
For SHS1/SHS3
Management noted that due to the start of the 2023 academic year calendar in January, the SHS 3 cannot enjoy prolonged breaks. This is to allow SHS 1 and SHS 2 also be in school.
Management however explained that the 2023 academic calendar will ensure that teachers in the senior high schools enjoy some breaks.
