The leadership of the Teacher Trainees Association of Ghana TTAG has stated that the failure of the Goverment to pay teacher Trainees’ their seven months arrears has resulted in the saddened change of the reopening date of 46 public colleges of education to January 2022.
According to the Deputy Secretary of TTAG the reason given by the Ghana Tertiary Education Commission GTEC that the postponement of the reopening date of levels 200 and 300 of the 46 public colleges of Education is untrue and must be condemned. He added that though his reason that the government has failed to pay teacher Trainees’ allowance which is the cause of the postponement of the reopening date is not official but that is the fact.
Background.
The Director-General of Ghana Tertiary Education Commission GTEC, prof Mohammed Salifu, yesterday the 1st of November 2021 stated that the reopening date of all the 46 public colleges for continuing students has been postponed to early November 2021.
The Director General of GTEC added that the reason for the postponement of the reopening date of Colleges of Education is to ensure that the Colleges of Education academic calendar is in line with the affiliate universities.
Meanwhile, the Executives of TTAG has rejected this reason for the postponement and has called all their members to remain calm as the executive fight for what is due them.
