There will be a massive reduction in admitting colleges of Education Students for the 2021/22 Academic year.


The deadline for applying for admission into Colleges of Education ended on the 31st of August 2021. This year’s colleges of Education admissions has witnessed a massive Application from most senior high school graduate wishing to enter into Colleges of Education. But the saddest and serious issue is that there will be a massive reduction in admitting students into Colleges of Education for this 2021/2022 academic year.

Colleges of Education will start admitting students very soon but the most likely thing is most of these students who applied will not be given admission. The reason behind this is that last three years the government upgraded colleges of education from diploma institutions into bachelor degrees institutions. Now, when all the 46 colleges of Education were upgraded then students have to stay in the school for four years before they attain their bachelor’s degrees. Due to the increase in the number of years, Students will stay on campus the student population outnumbered the infrastructure facility hence pressure on the infrastructure facility.

The serious part is that most of these colleges have not been given infrastructure facilities to augment their student population. Last year’s admission witness a serious reduction in admitting students into the Colleges of Education. Accra College of education last year alone denied about 3, 000 qualified Students admission due to lack of accommodations. This year’s admission is not going to be an exception.

The principals of various colleges of Education will be meeting at Ellembelle, Nkroful District in the western region in the coming days to discuss this year’s admission.
