Previously, VicRoads also handled road construction, maintenance, and traffic management. However, as of July 1, 2019, those responsibilities were transferred to the Department of Transport (now known as Transport Victoria).

The organization is now operated through a joint venture involving the Victorian Government, Aware Super, Australian Retirement Trust, and Macquarie Asset Management.

Where Is VicRoads Located?

VicRoads’ main administrative office is located at the iconic Rialto Towers in Melbourne, while the regional administration office is based in Ballarat—which also serves as their call centre.

Additionally, there are multiple VicRoads offices across metropolitan Melbourne and regional Victoria, making their services accessible statewide.
